ISTEP+ Algebra I Graduation Exam/End-of-Course Assessment
ISTEP+ English 10 Graduation Exam/End-of-Course Assessment
Beginning with the graduating Class of 2012, all students must pass the Algebra I and English 10 ISTEP+ Graduation Exams. Students must pass these two exams in order to meet the graduation requirement in the State of Indiana or students must qualify for a waiver. Students take these exams for the first time at the conclusion of the course. These exams replace the prior requirement of the Grade 10 ISTEP Graduation Qualifying Exam and are sometimes referred to as the GQE/ECA’s.
The Algebra I and English 10 exams will be administered to students currently enrolled in Algebra I and English 10 in May of this year. It is critical that students and parents understand the importance of these exams and that students work hard to prepare throughout the entire year. It is our goal that all students pass on their first attempt. However, if a student does not pass on the first attempt, further remediation and re-testing will be available each year.
ISTEP+ Biology I /End-of-Course Assessment
All students enrolled in Biology I are required to take the exam. The exam will be included in the student’s grade, but is not required for graduation.

Algebra I Re-test December 2009 Preliminary Results
Preliminary results for those students from the Class of 2012 who completed the exam for the second time in December of 2009 have arrived. Meetings were held with students on February 11th and 12th (makeup meeting February 25th). Each student was given a report, showing how her or she performed in relation to all other students who took the exam in December. Students were also given information about resources available to help them improve in areas most needed.
Passing scores will not be determined by the State until August. Students can test up to twice a year. All students are recommended to test again in May in order to take advantage of every opportunity.
