37th Annual Ball State University Jazz Fest Results
Bloomington High School North participated in the 37th Annual Ball State University Jazz Fest this past Saturday and again walked away with the top honors. The Advanced Jazz Ensemble was named top band of the festival (out of 60 bands) and in addition to being invited to perform at the final concert that night, they were presented with $1,000 plus a performing slot at the 2010 Indy Jazz Fest.
Senior Nathaniel Elmer was named best trombonist of the festival, and junior saxophonist Michael Kaderabek-Sera was named best saxophonist in Pruis Hall. Senior Jeff Browne was named best drummer of the festival and was also awarded a scholarship to the Jamey Aebersold Summer Music Workshop.
Japanese Olympiad Results
Level 4 team: 2nd place (out of 16 teams)
Level 3 team: 3rd place (out of 16 teams)
Level 2 team: 4th place (out of 23 teams)
(This team was in a 3-way tie-breaker in the preliminaries, and missed getting into the final round by one point.)
